Modeling of unusual nonlinear behaviors in superconducting microstrip transmission lines

چکیده
There are unusual nonlinear behaviors in superconducting materials, especially at low temperatures. This paper describes the procedure to reliably predict this nonlinearity in superconducting microstrip transmission lines (SMTLs). An accurate nonlinear distributed circuit model, based on simultaneously considering of both quadratic and modulus nonlinearity dependences, is proposed. All parameters of the equivalent circuit can be calculated analytically using proposed closed-form expressions. A numerical method based on Harmonic Balance approach is used to predict nonlinear phenomena like intermodulation distortions and third harmonic generations. Nonlinear analyses of the SMTLs at the different temperatures and the input powers have been presented. This proposed model can describe the unusual behaviors of the nonlinearity at low temperatures, which are frequently observed in the SMTLs. 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Modeling and design of superconducting microwave passive devices and interconnects
A spectral-domain volume-integral-equation method is developed for analyzing superconducting planar transmission lines. This method rigorously accounts for the complex conductivity, the finite metallization thickness, and the anisotropy of superconductors. Calculated effective dielectric constants and quality factors for microstrip lines and coplanar waveguides show good agreement with measured...
متن کاملMicrowave Intermodulation in High-Tc Superconducting Microstrip Resonators
|We present experimental results on microwave intermodulation measurements on a High Tc Superconducting band-reject microstrip resonator which exhibits unconventional 2:1 intermodulation products. We discuss unusual features of this 2:1 behavior that are uncovered by detailed frequency swept and unbalanced power measurements. We also introduce a phenomenological theory which arises from a nonli...
متن کاملThe Millimeter-wave Properties of Superconducting Microstrip Lines
We have developed a novel technique for making high quality measurements of the millimeter-wave properties of superconducting thin-film microstrip transmission lines. Our experimental technique currently covers the 75−130 GHz frequency range. The method is based on standing wave resonances in an open ended transmission line. We obtain information on the characteristic impedance, phase velocity,...
متن کاملCurrent Distribution and Nonlinearity of Open-Ends and Gaps in Superconducting Microstrip Structures
Superconducting devices are known to produce nonlinear effects. In planar structures, these nonlinearities depend on the current distribution on the strip, which definitely depends on the structure of device. This paper used a numerical method based on 3D-FEM to obtain the current distribution in the open-ends and gaps in the superconducting microstrip structures. This is used to present the no...
متن کاملSuperconducting Microstrip-Fed Antenna Coupled to a Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detector
A proper antenna to couple to a microstrip Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detector (MKID) is designed and simulated. A twin-slot microstrip-fed inline antenna is designed for frequency band of 600-720~GHz integrated with an elliptical lens and coupled to the MKID. A systematic design procedure for design of such antenna with microstrip inline feeding is presented. Whole structure of lens and twin...
